Jumble Sale

On Saturday 9th May 2015 from noon ’til 2:00pm, our annual sale for the benefit of Stoneleigh Methodist Church and the 3rd Stoneleigh Scout Group. Entry 40p (dealers at 10:00am, £5.00). Refreshments will be available. Parking on Church forecourt and on the road outside – please show consideration when parking to our residential neighbours. Collection of jumble for the surrounding streets in the preceeding week – leaflets will be delivered to the relevant homes.

Epsom Book Fair

This long established fundraising sale at Epsom Methodist Church is back again, this year between the 19th and 21st February 2015 from 10:00am. Entry is 50p with children and students free. If you’ve been before you’ll know there are expected to be many thousands of books including Antiquarian, Out-of-print, Children’s, Fiction and Non-Fiction – also CDs, DVDs and records. Dovecote Bookshop volunteers wanted

Dovecote Christian Bookshop needs more volunteers: The Bookshop was opened in 1996 and has been dependent on many faithful volunteers over the years for its existence. However, from the end of February 2015 we will be without our stalwart paid Manager of over 12 years, Rudy Chan, who is retiring. Rudy has been Manager for three days a week over those years and has held the business together. Foundation Stone laying film ‘unearthed’

We were delighted to receive an unsolicited gift in the post the other day – a cine film of the foundation stone laying of the Church on 26 June 1954, sent to us by Frances Plant. Her father, Len Challener, was a keen film maker and had a large collection of personal memories recorded. He and his wife Betty, being staunch members of SMC, included in his films a ‘short’ of the foundation stone laying (also depicted in our archives gallery) which Frances has wisely had digitised. We are very grateful to her for sharing this irreplaceable memory with us.

St John’s ‘Crafty Christmas Shopping Fair’
