Craftzone
Craftzone is an annual partnership, started in 2004, with Auriol Junior School and Churches Together in Ewell, substantially supported by SMC. CTE also run a similar partnership with Riverview Primary School.
Craftzone brings together a team from local churches across the denominations with a heart to encourage local children and share Christianity with them.
Towards the end of the Summer term the Craftzone volunteers go into the school for one afternoon a week for several weeks, and work with Year 6 (11 year olds). Teachers are present, and all volunteers have a DBS check. Craftzone uses DVD discussion, games, testimony and craft to help the children explore the Christian faith and prepare for their move to secondary school.
Auriol no longer take part in this initiative, but we still need a team of five volunteers for Riverview where Craftzone remains strong. The overriding quality needed is to have a heart for children, to respect their thoughts and to want to encourage them as they explore their opinions about what they hear.
