Parade Services

Parade Services are held throughout the year, usually in term time; most Parades coincide with events such as Easter, Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas too.

At SMC the uniformed organisations (Rainbow, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts) don’t ‘parade’ through the streets to the Church as happens in some communities; instead the youngsters come to the Sunday Service en masse and the colours of the Units are paraded through the congregation and then placed at the front of the Church. Being chosen to be a flag bearer is an honour.

The Service is always directed towards the younger age group present; at the same time not forgetting the more senior members who are regular Sunday worshippers. A difficult mix you might think, but the preacher for Parade is always thoughtfully chosen and the feedback is invariably positive.

After the Service we all move into the Link Room for light refreshment and a good old chat; parents are welcome to join us for the Service and afterwards.
